Arizona HOA bill

SB1249

homeowners' associations; uniformed services flag

This bill bars HOAs from prohibiting display of uniformed-services flags, protecting owners who fly them from being forced to take them down by community rules.

In short: Bars HOAs from prohibiting display of uniformed-services flags.

Introduced — no action Pro-homeowner · 2022 · 55th Reg. Session

What it does & where it stands

Prohibits a condominium unit owners' association (COA) or a planned community association (HOA) from prohibiting owners from displaying a flag of the U.S. uniformed services, rather than only the flags of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard (military flag).

For homeowners: Pro-homeowner: it broadens the protected category from specific military branch flags to any U.S. uniformed-services flag, so associations cannot prohibit that wider set of displays. It is an incremental display-rights expansion. Introduced with no action, so it did not take effect.
